Default Exhausted Frustration

Can someone please give me some practical advice? I feel totally defeated and unable to accomplish my goals in this game. What I need to know is if I screwed myself over of if there is a way to get what I want with what I got.

I am playing as a ME/E, post Ascension, just finished the Infusion/Kill Markis mission. I need money. I need items. I can't find anything. If I do a group of henchies, I get nuttin. A few gold drops here and there, nothing from mountain trolls, no purple items, no gold items.... you get the point. If I go solo, I'm pretty quickly smacked down and forced to retreat to the nearest town, still empty handed. My guild is relatively small and we just aren't online together that much. If I go with PUG everyone keeps what they find and I still get nothing.

How or where do I get stuff? If I do FoW/Underworld it's gonna cost me a plat every time. Can I do it with henchies and still end up with stuff? Is my build just a crappy solo build? Do I really need to make a W/Mo just for the purpose of farming? How am I ever supposed to advance and get good armor and cool weapons if I can't generate any cash? Do you see my problem? I'm amazed when I see all these people auctioning off stuff that they just "have to get rid of to save space". I wish I had that problem.

So, my Guru friends, what the heck do I do? Start over, or can I make this build successful?

find a pug for fissure, generally each person gives the leader 125 gold so for 8 ppl that equals the plat, you dont have to get very far in fissure to make good money

OHHH!!!! I feel so incredibly stupid now. I thought each person had to contribute 1 plat. Holy hell I'm dense sometimes.

Question though. Since I've never been in there, any suggestions for how to prepare for it so that I am not a burden the rest of the group? I know I hate PUG's with idiots who run ahead and aggro everything and make everyone else mad. I don't want to be that person.

Also, what kind of drops can I expect in there, roughly?

I do have the energy, but I do not have the attrib. Should have specified this earlier, but even though I am an ME/E, I am pretty much a pure Mesmer. I have half of my skill bar dedicated to physical attacks for some warrior hate and the other half with interrupts for some mage/healer hate.

Thanks for the help.

what do you consider a good return per hour?

example

i am still relatively low level and am not to lions arch yet

this is after expert salvage and id kit expences

in 1 hour average i can get 3-5 fur squares which i sell to the trader at over 300 (1-1.5 plat)

or (just now)

5 steel
4 dyes (2 purple 1orange 1red)

1 minor rune (sold for 339)
1 grip of fortitude

inventory junk totaling just over 600 gold

Good point. That is a decent return for and 1 hour. Goldwise that seems ok, but you don't get decent drops (i.e. gold, purple) at low level places, at least not frequently.

BTW, did you see the cost for fur last night? SHEESH, it was being sold by the trader for over 4 plat for 10 pieces.

Sorry, but if farming is your main goal in this game then you really haven't understood what the game is about.

Or it's possible that I didn't frame my question properly and you misunderstood. Farming is not my goal in the game. My goal is to have an enjoyable experience. I have thoroughly enjoyed the story and mission in PVE so far. I look forward to finishing the game and eagerly await the first expansion. Beyond that I two other characters that I am testing out in pre-searing so that I can do the game all over again and experience from different class perspectives.

However, I would also like to have some nice things while I go about this process. Things like weapons, armor (even the exorbitant 15K armor or FoW armor), runes and the like. In case you hadn't noticed, those things cost money and/or need to be salvaged from drops. I'm sure you understand where I'm going. Let's see, so far, doing the "normal" game I've gotten a whole 2 gold drops and about 4 purple ones. Seem a little unbalanced? See why some of us need to go and do a little hunting for better gear and items? this thread isn't about farming. However, for now, it is a necessary evil in the game, and I would like to know if my character is capable of some other practical suggestions for getting those things.

Maybe YOU now understand what I was saying.

to answer you about the drops, obsidian shards drop CONSTANTLY, they are usually worth 3-5k each, also chaos axes drop alot, shadow shields, lots of stuff that sells very easily, ive got a couple items people consider GODLY too, i usually just sell em off for like 10k cause i am not patient with selling crap, but anyways, its awesome gold going there

You could just do those Shiverpeak missions over and over again, and maybe you'll get lucky like my warrior; she got a rare shortbow to drop for her with a +30 fortitude mod on it. 75k in about a minute of WTS spamming at LA.
